The 49th annual convention of the National Committee for Labor Israel reported that the Committee’s 1971-72 campaign in the United States, Canada and Latin America raised $4,306,903, compared with $3,826,515 in 1970-71. Another $4 million was obtained from net and deferred contributions through the Israel Histadrut Foundation, a fund-raising arm of the NCLI, in the form of wills, bequests and annuities, with commitments up to $1.288 million. A message from President Nixon to the 1500 delegates attending the three-day convention which ended Sunday, praised Histadrut programs for having “immeasurably advanced the progress and democratic ideals of the young nation of Israel, just as our own country’s labor movement helped to realize these objectives for America.”
