The American Israel Public Affairs Committee is backing a bill that would cut all aid to the Palestinian Authority except for humanitarian assistance. The bipartisan U.S. House of Representatives bill, initiated by Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) and Tom Lantos (D-Calif.), would ban direct aid to the Palestinian Authority and impose tough strictures on assistance to non-governmental organizations. It explicitly allows humanitarian aide, however.
