The chair of a congressional terrorism panel says he feels American support for a Palestinian state is misguided policy. Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.), chair of the Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, said Monday’s expected speech on the Middle East by Secretary of State Colin Powell should focus more heavily on forcing Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat to combat terrorism, not reward him with statehood.
