The chairman of a group focusing on Holocaust-era claims threatened to quit, but later decided to stay in his post. Hours after threatening to resign Wednesday in the midst of a heated debate, Lawrence Eagleburger said talks with insurance regulators, insurance firms and Jewish groups convinced him that he will be granted the authority necessary to complete the work of the International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims.
