The cost of living index rose by 7.6 percent in September, the Central Bureau of Statistics announced Friday. During the first nine months of 1982 the index rose by 50 percent. This was the annual rate promised by the Treasury at the end of last year, assuring the public that the Treasury’s policies would bring the inflationary rate to “about 90 percent for the year, or well below 100 percent.” Last month’s increase indicates that inflation this year will total about 135 percent.
