The European Parliament president condemned remarks by a far-right French legislator who questioned whether there had been gas chambers in the Holocaust. In a parliamentary session Thursday, Josep Borrell told deputy Bruno Gollnisch he was “ashamed” to have heard the “scandalous claims” regarding the gas chambers. “I hope you will be held accountable for your slanders by the courts,” Borrell added.
