The European Union’s president rejected demands by some member states to refer to Christianity in a new E.U. constitution. In a letter ahead of Monday’s meeting of E.U. foreign ministers in Luxembourg, Ireland’s Bertie Ahern chose not to recommend that Europe’s “Christian heritage” be added to the constitution’s preamble.
