The Foreign Ministry Thursday “welcomed” the statement by leaders of the European Economic Community (EEC) this week that direct negotiations are essential to advance peace in the Middle East. But it took sharp exception to the view that the Palestine Liberation Organization must be “associated” with the peace efforts.
