The governor of the Bank of Israel said the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should spend more on infrastructure projects, particularly transportation, in order to combat the country’s growing unemployment. Jacob Frenkel also called for job training programs to combat unemployment, which reached 8.1 percent for the third quarter of 1997.
