The head of the North American Jewish federation system urged Israel to bring descendants of Ethiopian Jews to Israel. While 2,000 backers of the Falash Mura protested outside the office of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the CEO of the United Jewish Communities federation umbrella organization, Stephen Hoffman, made their case to Sharon. Hoffman said the two discussed ways in which the federation system could provide financial aid to Israel to absorb the thousands of Falash Mura in Ethiopia.
