The Israeli Cabinet approved outgoing Prime Minister Ehud Barak’s statement that the next Israeli government will not be bound by proposals put forward during earlier rounds of negotiations with the Palestinian Authority. Arab governments are demanding that Prime Minister-elect Ariel Sharon resume negotiations from where they left off under Barak, but the U.S. State Department has confirmed that the Clinton proposals are no longer on the table.
