The Jewish Agency for Israel spokesman will manage a new media-liaison unit in the Olmert government.
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Tuesday picked Yarden Vatikay, who has served in the Jewish Agency and World Zionist Organization for the past five years, for the Information Directorate.
The directorate will coordinate government agencies on handling national public relations. It was established as part of a drive to implement the lessons of the Second Lebanon War, when official media messages often were confused.
Vatikay, 41, formerly served as the spokesman for Israel’s defense minister.
