The Jewish National Council yesterday made representations to the Minister of Education demanding that the rector and the supervisor of the Polytechnic Institute be made responsible for the anti-Semitic disturbances which led to the closing of the school after Jewish students had been attacked.
The demand is made in a communication addressed to the Minister of Education, wherein it is charged that the rector and supervisor acted contrary to the law and as such are responsible for the events under the criminal code. Both officials, the memorandum asserts, refused to intervene when the Jewish students who were attacked approached them asking protection. At first they pleaded lack of time and when the Jewish students insisted upon aid, informed them that they were fully aware of the nature of their duties.
The Polytechnic Institute remains closed owing to the disturbed atmosphere as does the University of Warsaw.
All was quiet yesterday at the Wawelberg Technical High School and the College of Commerce.
