The leader of France’s Green Party accepted Zionism as the national liberation movement of the Jewish people. Gilles Lemaire made the statement during a meeting with leaders of the CRIF umbrella organization of French Jews, the CRIF Web site reported Tuesday. Lemaire, who is regarded as being on the radical wing of his party, said he preferred to define himself as “non-Zionist” rather than “anti-Zionist.”
