The merriest Purim within living memory, doubly blessed with brilliant weather, was celebrated here today. Prominent among the celebrants were this city’s Orthodox Jews, dressed in holiday garb. Teams of furcapped, side curled men from the Mea Shearim quarter ran through the streets exhorting the populace to make merry, and offering wine from the huge bottles which they carried.
