The new head of the Israeli military won Cabinet confirmation. Gabi Ashkenazi will succeed Lt. Gen. Dan Halutz, who resigned last month over probes into his handling of the Lebanon war. Ashkenazi, who is currently director-general of the Defense Ministry, will take over the top military post Feb. 14.
