The number of people emigrating from Western nations to Israel declined last year, according to the Jerusalem Post. In 1999, 1,323 Americans made aliyah, a 15 percent decline from the year before. Aliyah from the United States is at its lowest point since 1968, the paper quoted an officials with the Jewish Agency for Israel as saying. The trend is reportedly similar in Canada and Australia.
