The Palestinian Authority expects to resume control of the West Bank city of Jenin when Israel evacuates nearby settlements this summer. The P.A.’s Interior Ministry said Israel wants Palestinian security forces to control Jenin when it removes four northern West Bank settlements as part of withdrawals scheduled to begin in August. An Israeli army spokesman said the handover of Jenin was discussed with the Palestinian Authority, but that a final decision wasn’t made.
