The patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Church said the church wants to repossess its land holdings in Israel. In an interview with the Jerusalem Post, newly elected Patriarch Eireneos I also said the church may lay claim to land under the Israeli Knesset. Elected more than two months ago, Eireneos has not yet been approved as patriarch by the Israeli government.
