The president of Israel’s Supreme Court, Justice Moshe Landau, retired from the bench last week upon reaching the mandatory retiring age of 70. He served as a judge for 40 years and is considered the last of the founding generation of Israel’s legal system and judicial establishment. Landau is succeeded as president by Justice Yitzhak Kahan, a religious justice.
