To the Editor, Jewish Daily Bulletin:

I have read the correspondence of A. Abramsohn describing the sad plight of the Jews of Vienna who are selling out their belongings in order to raise sums to enable them to go to Eretz Yisrael. The tragedy of this matter is that there are no buyers for these Jewish belongings.

The heart of every Jew with some Jewish feelings is bleeding to see one of the most cultural and most hearty and brotherly parts of European Jewry at the edge of oblivion. Especially are these sorry tidings nerve-shocking for all those who, like me, have had the good fortune to live in Vienna of yore when sunshine resided in every Jewish home.

The Viennese Jew had a heart for every Jewish brother who asked for a helping hand, no matter from what clime or part of the globe he came.

And all we Jews who are so fortunate as to live in this haven of liberty, the United States of America, and in other countries where the word liberty is not a mock-word, should take the plight of our Viennese brethren to our hearts and souls.

We could help them without drives for money. A corporation could be organized to buy from them their belongings at fair prices. This corporation could again resell these things in Austria or in other countries. The American Jewish Congress and the Zionist Organization should take the lead in such a scheme.

ON WILLIAM B. ZIFF

To the Editor, Jewish Daily Bulletin:

The Jewish Daily Bulletin need not worry. It will not lose too many readers as a result of William B. Ziff’s articles. On the contrary, I believe the Bulletin will gain readers. I myself have recommended the Bulletin to at least four of my friends, mainly and chiefly for the sake of his articles. And so, I believe, will many others.

It is not my habit to write letters to editors, but I do wish to tell Mr. Ziff that he is a real Jew —and a 100 per cent Zionist. His articles prove it. For the sake of our people, may he continue to write his articles in the same spirit. Eventually we might land some place. God help him!
