The Tel Aviv City Council voted to appoint one chief rabbi for the city, instead of separate Ashkenazi and Sephardi chief rabbis, as was done in the past. Israel’s two chief rabbis are supporting the move, which was proposed by the city’s mayor, Ron Huldai.
