The United Nations called on the Israeli air force to stop flying over Lebanon. “Regrettably, Israeli air violations of the Blue Line are continuing to take place,” U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s personal representative for southern Lebanon, Staffan De Mistura, said in a statement Tuesday, referring to the border between the two countries. “The persistent Israeli overflights contribute to the raising of tension.” Israeli officials say aerial missions over Lebanon are necessary to keep a watch on Hezbollah.
