The United States determined that the Palestinian Authority and Yasser Arafat were involved in an attempt to smuggle weapons from Iran to the Gaza Strip. State Department officials met Wednesday with senior Israeli intelligence officials, who presented evidence of Arafat’s direct involvement in the scheme.
