The United States is “beginning to see the first fruits” of efforts to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a State Dept. official said. William Burns, assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs, told the Anti-Defamation League on Monday that the “road map” for Middle East peace is “a broad outline for action, not a treaty or an edict.”
