The woman who prompted a nationwide movement by Israeli single mothers protesting welfare cuts will not run for public office. Instead, Vicky Knafo, who set up a protest camp outside government offices after walking 125 miles from Mitzpe Ramon to in Jerusalem in July, will work in a tomato plant an hour away from her home, according to Ha’aretz.
