There is a good chance Palestinian groups will agree on a halt to attacks against Israel, Israel’s army chief said Tuesday. Addressing legislators on the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Lt. Gen. Moshe Ya’alon told Israel Radio he believes Hamas would agree to such a halt, in part so it does not appear to be an obstacle at a time when ordinary Palestinians support diplomatic talks.
