Thousands of Palestinians participated in protests across the West Bank and Gaza Strip at the start of three days of mourning for the leader of a radical PLO faction killed by Israel. Abu Ali Mustafa, leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, was killed when Israeli helicopters fired missiles at his office in the West Bank city of Ramallah. Mustafa was the most high-profile militant killed under Israel’s policy of targeting people accused of planning attacks against Israelis.
