Three Israeli army officers were killed and five soldiers were wounded when Hezbollah gunmen ambushed their patrol in southern Lebanon. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who called the deaths a “very, very bitter blow” to Israel, demanded that Syria put an end to the Hezbollah attacks. “It is clear that if Syria wanted to stop these attacks, it has the power to do so,” he said. “We expect them to curtail aggression against Israel.”
