Three Jews are among the 15 recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. President Clinton will present the nation’s highest civilian honor at a White House ceremony Jan. 15 to Arnold Aronson, a civil rights leader, and Sol Linowitz, an ambassador-at-large for Middle East negotiations under President Carter. Clinton will present the medal posthumously to union leader Albert Shanker, the former president of the American Federation of Teachers.
