Three kibbutz members are suspected of raping two female tourists from Denmark. The suspects, aged 19 to 21 from Kibbutz Ein Gedi, were charged with rape in Beersheba District Court on Wednesday based on testimony given by two teenaged Danish women. The women, 17 and 19, stayed at Ein Gedi this month while seeking medical treatment at the nearby Dead Sea. They said the suspects sexually assaulted them after a drinking session. The kibbutz members have denied wrongdoing in the case, which has sullied the Israeli kibbutz movement’s efforts to draw foreign volunteers and tourists after years of decline.
