To Transer U.S. Consulate General to Jerusalem

The main commercial and diplomatic representation of the United States government in the Near East is to be transferred from Syria to Palestine, according to a report here.

It was stated that the Consulate General will be transferred from Beirut to Jerusalem. The jurisdiction of the Consulate will extend to Mesoptamia, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine.

It was stated that the Washington government values the importance of Jerusalem as a Middle East center.
