A stage said to be the largest of its type will be used in the production of Verdi’s “Aida,” the first open-air opera of the season at the Yankee Stadium tonight (Sunday). Caterina Jarboro, Bruna Castagna and Sandra Marel will sing the principle roles.

The opera is being staged by Benjamin Altieri under the direction of Mr. Salmaggi. The orchestra conductor will be Giuseppe Bamboschek. The settings are designed along the lines of those used in the original production of “Aida,” at the foot of the pyramids near Cairo.
