Echoes of the Arab bandit raids in Northern Palestine last Winter by the gang led by Ahmed Tapish were heard before Justice Plunkett today when he opened the trial of eight members of the brigand band charged with highway robbery. The case was adjourned after police witnesses, including Inspector Cohen from Safed, had described the gang’s terrorist activities, including its threats to kill and disarm policemen.

The gang originally numbered 49. One died in prison while the leader, Ahmed Tapish, is now serving a fifteen year prison sentence.
