On the occasion of Israel’s anniversary, the opening prayer in the U.S. Senate today was delivered by Rabbi Joachim Prinz, of Newark. He was invited to deliver the invocation by Senator Clifford Case, Republican of New Jersey. Sen. Case addressed the Senate in tribute to Israel’s achievements as did a number of other members of Congress.
Sen. Case also tendered a luncheon honoring Israel’s anniversary. The luncheen, held in the United States Capitol building, was attended by Sen. Hugh Scott, Pennsylvania Republican, Sen. Abraham Ribicoff, Connecticut Democrat, Sen. Ernest Gruening, Alaska Democrat, Israel Ambassador Avraham Harman, and a number of Jewish leaders and other guests.
