Colonial Secretary William Ormsby-Gore admitted in the House of Commons yesterday that the trouble in Palestine is now “deep-seated and widespread.” Replying to questions, he said the military and police forces in the Holy Land had been reinforced.

Mr. Ormsby-Gore disclosed that there had been one murder, three armed robberies, several cases of sabotage and snipings in the last week, but said he had no information on the number of arrests. He said special measures had been taken against the attacks, of which 30 had occurred in the last three months.

The Palestine Partition Commission will hold its first meeting in London, the Colonial Secretary said, and will proceed with its business so as to arrive in Palestine as soon as the Easter ceremonies are over.

Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the World Zionist Organization, tonight addressed a meeting of the Parliamentary Palestine Committee.
