The National Conference of Christians and Jews today presented President Truman with its first annual award for his furtherance of the causes of brotherhood at home and abroad.
In a ceremony at the White House, Robert P. Patterson, chairman of “Brotherhood Week” and former Secretary of War, gave the President a citation which paid tribute to him “for generous encouragement year by year of Brotherhood Week and other causes of religious significance, for the forward steps toward brotherhood envisaged by the reports of the President’s commissions on human rights, education and atomic energy, for consistently maintaining in all international councils the primacy of spiritual values.”
