A violent attack on an American journalist for a syndicated article on the situation of Tunisian Jewry appeared in the official organ of the Neo-Destour nationalist party. Michael Clark was the target of the attack which appeared in “Assabah,” Neo-Destour mouthpiece.
“Assabah” accused Clark of trying to force a division between “Tunisian Jews and Moslems” and charged that his references to “the anxieties of Tunisian Jewry” were inspired by what the paper termed hostile elements.
