Turbulent scenes marked the proceedings of a meeting held here last night to protest against the anti-Jewish riots in Lemberg, Poland, on June 3.
Five thousand persons were present at the meeting which was addressed by Prof Victor Basch, president of the League of Human Rights. Abbe Violet and Georges Pioch, noted French Journalist.
Many in the audience protested against the utterances of the speakers. Prof Bashc traced the history of the anti-Semitic movement in Poland. Abbe Violet appealed to the Catholic youth to combat anti-Semitism and M. Pioch severely rebuked the Polish government. He stated that before the war the French people idealized the Poles, but now they are bitterly disappointed.
M. Caillaux and Malvy Langevin, who were scheduled to speak, were not present.
