Turkish Government Increases Contribution to Jewish Hospital

The Turkish Parliament, acting on a petition by 52 deputies, has approved an increase in the government’s subsidy to the Jewish Hospital of Istanbul from 30,000 pounds to 40,000 (approximately $14,000) for this year. The Istanbul municipal council, meanwhile, has agreed to contribute 5,000 Pounds toward the institution’s the institution’s annual budget of 200,000 pounds.
