Agitation has been started by the Turkish press against the Sephardic Jews here. Great excitement of public opinion in Turkey was aroused by this agitation.

The newspapers attacked the Jewish community of Turkey, bringing forward the accusation that 300 Turkish Sephardic Jews, descendants of those Jews who were exiled from Spain in 1492, sent a message of loyalty to the Spanish government on the occasion of the racial celebration last October.

Grand Rabbi Bejeranu Effendi called upon the governor of Constantinople, protesting vigorously against the agitation of the press.
