The premises of the Jewish Colonization Association (ICA) in Istanbul have been closed down by the Turkish authorities and the activities of the organization have been stopped, according to a report today in Davar, Palestine Hebrew daily, from reliable sources in Turkey.
This report is in direct contradiction to an official communique issued by the Turkish authorities that no raid rad taken place on the association’s headquarters in Istanbul. The communique was sent out by the Turkish Telegraphic Agency from Anatolia.
AVOID PALESTINE ADVICE
Jewish leaders in Palestine are greatly interested in the fate of the Jewish Colonization Association office in Turkey, since the raid was made on the charge that the Association was allegedly encouraging Jewish emigration from Turkey into Palestine. Zionist activities in Turkey are prohibited. The Jewish Colonization Association there, in giving emigration advice to Jews, carefully avoided advice concerning Palestine.
The offices of the Jewish Colonization Association in Istanbul have been functioning in Turkey since many years before the World War as a branch of the central headquarters of the Association which are located in Paris.
