Two of the four Arabs charged with the murder of 24 Jews in the house of Rabbi Jacob Slonim during the massacre in Hebron last August were today sentenced to death, one received seven years in prison on a charge of looting and the fourth, already under a death sentence in another case, was acquitted. The two sentenced to death are Isa Al Arafi, a wealthy merchant, and Khalif Kattib, a chauffeur. Abdul Muni received the seven year term and Mohamed Jumjum was acquitted.
The trial of the Arabs charged with the 24 murders lasted four days. Eyewitnesses to and survivors of the murders testified for the persecution. Those killed included the son and daughter-in-law of Rabbi Slonim as well as other members of his family and other Jews who had sought refuge in his house.
