Two-day Women’s Conference Plans Increased Support for Ort

Plans for increased support for the world-wide activities of the ORT will be discussed at a two-day national conference of the Women’s American ORT which opened tonight at the Hotel Plaza here. Several new projects to be supported include the development of a “health program for ORT students” and the establishment of additional canteens and dormitories.

The Women’s American ORT, which is one of the principal supporters of the World ORT Union program, has 35,000 members organized In 200 chapters throughout the United States, Addressing the over 300 delegates representing the chapters, Mrs. Ludwig Kaphan, national president of the women’s organization, said that financial grants totalling over $400,000 have recently been given to the World ORT Union by numerous governments, foundations and inter-governmental agencies, including the Government of the United States.
