Two Jewish organizations criticized a U.S. lawmaker for accusing Democrats of waging war on Christianity. The Anti-Defamation League and American Jewish Congress each condemned remarks by Rep. John Hostettler (R-Ind.) on Wednesday. Lonnie Nasatir, ADL regional director of the Upper Midwest Region, called the comments “contentious and confrontational,” and AJCongress general counsel Marc Stern called the suggestion that the United States is a Christian country “a chilling prospect.”
