Israel and Jordan representatives held a meeting today to negotiate renewal of the local commanders’ agreement which has helped ease tensions along the Jerusalem border and “good progress” has been made according to a report received here from Maj. Gen. E. L. M. Burns, United Nations truce chief in Palestine.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of the UN truce supervision organization in Jerusalem under the chairmanship of Gen. Burns. In his report he declared that both sides have examined “various clauses” of the pact “as to which a considerable measure of agreement was obtained.” Another meeting of the group will be held next Thursday, Aug. 11.
Col. Joseph Tekoa and Maj. S. Doron represented Israel, while Jordan was represented by Dr. H. Nuseibeh and Lt. Col. M. Izhaq.
