U.S. -born Hebrew University Teacher Gets Scholarship

Robert Friend, 41-year-old Brooklyn-born member of the English literature faculty at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, today was awarded the Anglo-Jewish Association scholarship of 500 pounds sterling for a year’s study at London University. Friend, a graduate of Harvard University, and a poet, has published translations into English from modern Hebrew poetry.
