The Stude baker custom Lark model, being assembled at the Kaiser-Frazer automobile assembly plant at Haifa, will cost an Israeli purchaser 10,900 pounds ($6,104), according to a government ruling issued today.
The Lark is now being assembled by the Kaiser-Frazer plant at Haifa in place of the French Renault Dauphine, since the French firm withdrew its Israeli franchise in deference to the Arab League’s anti-Israeli economic boycott.
Of the total retail price for the Lark to purchasers in this country, the seller will receive only 6,000 pounds ($3,360), the remainder of $2,774 going to the government in the form of excise taxes.
