U.S. Diplomats Discussing American Aid to Middle East Lands

The meeting of American diplomats in the Middle East which is now being held in Damascus, is discussing–among other things–American economic aid to countries in the area as well as military aid to the Arab states, it was learned here today.

The high-level meeting is also discussing general development problems in the countries of the Middle East, including the Johnston Plan for regional water development. George V. Allen, newly appointed Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, is presiding over the meeting.
