American gifts for the establishment in Palestine of the Weizmann Institute of Science have reached the $500,000 mark, according to an announcement today by Edmund I. Kaufmann, president of the American Committee which formulated the plans for the establishment of the Institute and adopted a $2,000,000 goal for the realization of its program.

The plan was announced as a 70th birthday tribute to the renowned scientist and president of the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency for Palestine. The climax of the committee’s effort is expected to be reached in the Spring of this year when Dr. Woizmann is to arrive for his third war-time visit to the United States. It is the action of the committee to present him with a check of $1,000,000 as a first installment on America’s share in the creation of the institute.
